Celebrating 60 Years
Kenya Literature Bureau originated from the East African Literature Bureau which was established in 1947 by the British High Commission. It became a department in the Ministry of Education in 1977 when the East African Community collapsed; and a parastatal in 1980 by an act of parliament.
Kenya Literature Bureau is a state publisher whose mission is to publish quality reading materials at affordable prices, promote local authorship and provide shareholder value. We have published more than 800 titles in all subjects for the local and international markets and most of our educational books have been approved by the Ministry of Education.
The Bureau is committed to superior customer service, transparency and accountability, and public policy and ethics. It recognizes individual input to organizational success.
It has employed highly qualified and experienced staff who use modern technology especially in publishing, production and marketing departments. The Bureau has now opened a Customer Service Centre in the City Centre on Kijabe Street; and is now accessible on the web to improve service delivery.
