KLB Donates Educational Materials to Raila Education Centre - Kibera Students have been urged to work hard in school if they are to break the poverty barrier.

Mrs. Eve Obara, the Managing Director of Kenya Literature Bureau encouraged students at the Raila Educational Centre (REC), where she donated textbooks and other reading material worth Sh800, 000. “With good education, the sky is not just the limit, but the lower limit,” she said.

Telling of her own challenges while growing-up, Mrs. Obara attributed education to her achievements in life. “It is out of hard work and focus in education that I am where I am today,” she said.

Mrs. Obara advised the students to adopt discipline and good reading culture that would keep them away from tempting social ills. “A book is the only friend that will never disappoint you. Books are a faithful companion who sticks by your side and helps make your life better,” she told the amused students, passing on the message of the need to take education seriously.

The School Board members led by Ms Rosemary Odinga thanked Mrs. Obara for the donation. The Managing Director reiterated KLB’s commitment towards education advancement in line with the Education Ministry’s vision of education for all, as well as the Millennium Development Goals (MDG’s) and the Vision 2030 Government blueprint.
